I'm Michelle Nickolaisen
Content Marketer & Strategist
- Writing for the web since 2008
- Located in Austin, TX
My ten years of experience run the gamut from writing and editing to strategy to managing teams, projects, and launches.
As a writer, I’ve worked with companies like Shopify, Moo, Bigcommerce, Sitepoint, Clubhouse, and KISSmetrics to draw in readers and keep them around. I’ve been writing for the web since 2008 and working specifically with B2B SaaS companies and startups since early 2014.
As a marketer and strategist, I’ve funded my first Kickstarter campaign to over 150% on a shoestring budget, consulted other successful crowdfunding campaigns, and worked with startups to create a content marketing strategy from the ground up.
Some of my other projects include writing and producing an indie audio drama with over 80,000 downloads and an actual-play podcast with over 50,000 downloads. I’ve also been quoted at or featured in/on MediaBistro, Entrepreneur magazine, CIO.com, the Intuit small business blog, Social Media Today, and more.
Whether you’re looking for a writer who understands the marketplace and your customers, someone to create a strategy for your crowdfunding venture and manage a team to implement it, or someone to build your content marketing strategy from the ground up, you’re in the right spot.
I’m currently working as the content marketing manager at Rebilly, and have extremely limited time for freelance or consulting work. If you have a small freelance project or want to hire me for consulting or speaking, you can get in touch at the bottom of this page.
Our CEO Eddie sent out a company-wide shoutout for the content team and included two of your posts in his list of recent favorites. So the more content we can get from you the better!Julie Neumann Content team, Bigcommerce
Working with Michelle was an incredible experience! She really dug into who our readers should be and helped us organize our content production process a ton. The posts she wrote for us are some of the best content on our blog. Her post on No Code MVPs got featured in Hiten Shah's newsletter and resulted in multiple new subscribers and two warm leads. Do yourself a favor and hire her.Andrew Askins Partner, Krit
Though we started out with little more than a website and an infrequently updated blog, Michelle took on the challenge and helped us develop and build content so that we could truly begin to promote our company and brand across multiple platforms. She not only wrote blog posts but also conducted interviews, wrote case studies, created our style guide, handled most of our social media postings, and even authored our first e-book! Michelle is an organized and diligent worker and was very flexible as we iterated on multiple approaches to try and find our unique voice. Clubhouse is blazing into an amazing new stage of marketing and growth thanks to the foundation that Michelle helped us lay. Kudos to her!Camille Acey VP of Customer Success, Clubhouse.io
Michelle helped me exceed all expectations with the massive success of the wellness ebook bundle sale that I hosted. I was as organized as I have ever been for a big project – organized enough to allow me to sell 7,500 bundles for total in $293K in sales, in a time period of 7.5 days.Todd Dosenberry Food & travel blogger
Michelle's been killing it. Her articles are consistently on point and almost always perform well--I've been publishing her stuff later in the week, actually, so it sits on the home page through the weekend. It's nice to sit down to work on an article and know it's going to be good.Josh Earl Editor, SitePoint
Michelle has created both sales copy and content for multiple companies I work with. Her creative reliability and ability to turn large ideas into concise, well flowing copy amazes me every time.Kelso Kennedy Co-Founder, Redstamp
